About Extended Version

Alchemia-AddendumFirst of all, I would like to thank you for many nice comments and e-mails. I am very happy that you like to play our game. Positive feedback from the players is the main motivation why we have decided to start working on extended version of Alchemia. However, it will take some time till the game is finished. Currently I am thinking about the main storyline of next levels. Also, I have already made some nice pictures of tree cavities that will be later transformed into high halls of underground city and I have more-less finished one additional level (you can see the screenshot in one of the older posts, it’s the one with large stone troll).

However, I would like to know what do you – players – think about one thing: Currently the whole game is available to play for free. It has not been sponsored yet, we don’t use excessive advertising to beat every possible penny out of it, and the only way how we currently make some money is placing the ads banner next to the main screen of the game. In future, we would like to find some possibilities how to make some additional revenue from our hard work. That’s why we are thinking about asking some symbolic payment (let’s say $7) for downloading and playing the extended version.

What is your opinion about it? Would you buy the game?

Also, some players didn’t like the dialogues in the game. I have to admit that they are probably right – I will try to decrease the number of dialogue boxes in extended version to a minimum essential level.

If you have any suggestions/questions about story of extended version, better dialogues in free version (we can replace the current ones), funding, promotion, puzzles, about anything that could make our games better and played more, please let us know (comment).

Who wouldn’t pay a fee… a very small fee indeed… for such a masterpiece? Outstanding. Can’t wait to pay for the extended version to have the privilege of indulging in more of your work.

    Hello Tomas,

I just played and enjoyed Alchemia.

Re: the Dialogues … I also didn’t like them, but not because of their content or that they were there after all—it was much more their style. Compared to the rest of the game they just look too, uhm, sterile, technical, computer-made. With a more grungy background and perhaps hand-written they should be much more convincing.

I’ve played—and enjoyed—your Haluz games before, I also played and enjoyed Amanita Design’s Samorost series and even purchased their Machinarium, and I guess I’d also be willing to pay you 7 or maybe even 10 US$.

Thanks for letting me play for free up to now :-)

    Greetings, Tom

    Hi there Tomas.

First, let me say that I very much enjoyed Alchemia. It has a very nice style, one that I like very much, and something that you rarely see in games. So keep it up! (:
If I may suggest two things for the extended version, then it’s these:
First, on the dialogue; that was one of the few things I did not enjoy about the game, for various reasons. I think it would really up the style of your game if you removed them entirely, and replaced them with visual thought bubbles instead, ala Machinarium.
Secondly, I would like to see a bit of added difficulty in the puzzles in the future. It’s great that some of them are easy, but I’d like to see just a few that makes you really think.
But other than that, I can’t give enough praise. It was really an enjoyable game. :)
